E-Mail Services - Basics of E-Mail
Services
Each pair Networks account includes one mailbox, that can be
accessed using a POP3 mail client (such
as Eudora or Outlook Express). Basic Accounts or greater can use a
UNIX mail reader through telnet / SSH.
Some popular UNIX mail clients are pine,
elm, and mutt.
Your account mailbox will receive
all mail addressed to any domain names on the account, regardless of
username. For instance, if you had the domain name example.com,
you would receive mail at any of the following:
sales@example.com
support@example.com
president@example.com
anythingyouwant@example.com
and any other username. No
configuration is needed on your part -- this is enabled by default.
You can also send mail as coming
from any address in your domain name, regardless of your actual
account username. This is done through the settings in your POP3
mail software.
If you want, you can add extra
"virtual" POP mailboxes to your account. There is now a
separate instruction page on virtual
mailboxes.
These extra POP boxes would
receive mail to a specific address you specify, and be received
separately from your main account mailbox.
In all cases, 3 MB is the largest
allowed size for incoming mail. Mails larger than 3 MB will be
returned with an error to the sender. We recommend use of FTP
for the transfer of large files.
Your account also includes the
ability to forward mail to other e-mail
addresses you might have, and to set up autoresponders
to answer certain e-mail addresses. The powerful My
pair Account Control Center makes custom e-mail configuration
fast and easy. The following Support Forum resources are available
to help you in configuring your e-mail:
